Lisa Greenfield was one of ten local artists that has been selected as a finalist for a Public Art Commission in Cambridge, MA. Each artist has developed a site-specific proposal for the Cambridge Street Corridor - a one-mile stretch of Cambridge Street, spanning from Inman Square to Lechmere. The scope of the commission, by the Cambridge Arts Council, permits the artists to develop a concept in any of the arts and design media – visual, performing, mixed media, architectural, landscape, social, etc. The budget cap for the project is $50,000. In May, a selection committee will review all projects and select one project for implementation within the following year.

Starry Night
Lisa Greenfield and Daniel J. van Ackere
A Street under Summer Street, Boston, MA
Dusk to dawn.
December 20, 2009-November, 2010

Starry Night will create the illusion of being under a starry sky as you walk under the Summer Street overpass on A Street in Fort Point, Boston. One aspect of city life is the rarity of a starlit sky. Memories of crisp, cold air and midnight black skies, punctuated by brilliant blue-white stars, are evoked by this installation.

The area is frequently traversed by the many workers and residents of our community, but it is currently dingy and poorly lit. Starry Night will create a glow that transforms that short walk into a festive, enchanting and memory-evoking experience.

Funded by a grant from FPAC for the Winter Solstice public art series.

Boston Sunday Globe Review of Starry Night "...The best piece here is quite simple: Lisa Greenfield and Daniel van Ackere’s magical canopy of blue LED lights, “Starry Night,’’ strung on A Street beneath the Summer Street bridge. The sparkle imbues the rundown stretch of road with a heavenly glow." - Cate McQuaid

Make a Point: A Competition
Lisa was selected as one of six finalists in the Friends of Fort Point Channel's international Make a Point competition chosen to present pecha-kucha style at the Blue Wave on December 15th.
